If you missed out on your chance to pick up one of the first pairs of Google Glass, here’s another way to capture video without pulling out a smartphone and you don’t have to say “Ok, Glass,” to do it. A new project launched on Kickstarter by the same group that created the LinkMe, ParaShoot is a wearable and customizable HD video camera that shoots in 720 HD lets you upload content directly to the cloud without connecting to a computer. The ParaShoot comes with a wearable neck strap for hands-free use or you can detach it and use it more actively. It works with all smartphone platforms and comes with a custom plate of your choice, including a festive American flag.

In addition to shooting continuously, ParaShoot can also be set to record video automatically in intervals. For example, five minutes of footage every half hour, amounts to an hour’s worth of video taken every six hours. The intervals can be changed in the ParaShoot’s smartphone app.  You can transfer the data to the cloud storage of your choosing with your smartphone or store it in the ParaShoot cloud to easily share via email and social media platforms. The ParaShoot cloud offers infinite data storage at a flat monthly fee to be determined according to your use. For Kickstarter backers, a complimentary first thirty days of cloud storage is included in the reward. The ParaShoot also comes equipped with an internal micro SD memory slot. A 16G micro memory card is included for backers.

TheParashoot app allows the smartphone to be used as the remote control and viewfinder. Because it works wirelessly, it can broadcast footage directly onto all smart devices (smartphones, tablets, notebooks, displays). In addition to being able to use it standalone, Parashoot is also powered by the neck strap. For Kickstarter backers, a spare battery is included so it can be easily inserted while the original is charged (via USB).  In automatic interval recording mode, one battery can last more than a day with a spare battery it can be continuously used for days.

Pledge $149 or more and receive a ParaShoot at $120 off the estimated $269 list price.
