The Montgomerie Maxx Royal Belek Golf Resort in Antalya, Turkey: this was where Victor Dubuisson won the opening event of the European Tour Final Series on Sunday.
You’ve also probably watched the Turkish Airlines Open on the course… and likely dreamed of mastering your own 18 holes here. And now the Montgomerie Maxx Royal Balek is accommodating a lot more hole-in-one-hopefuls…. because now it offers around the clock play.
It was just announced that this course, one of the world’s most famous, has installed the latest connected Philips lighting technology to allow play after sunset.
The course’s 379 connected LED lights can be individually controlled with a tablet computer to recreate natural daylight, with hydraulic poles that can be raised or lowered when needed.
Each connected LED light’s precise angle and position has been determined using topographical data to avoid shadows at crucial moments of play. And all fairway lights face in the direction of play to prevent glare and allow players to track the ball in the air.
So now, your Double Eagle quest may still be limited by the hours in the day, but not the light you use to play.
