With child obesity rates reaching new records, First Lady Michelle Obama has taken it on herself to end this problem by Battling the Bulge. Child Obesity problems are reaching record levels, and this battle against bulge has a long way to go. Now Michelle Obama has also embarked on the same mission of Battling the Bulge by initiating her own program called ‘Let’s Move’.
The initiative in comprised of four main goals:
– Educating parents about health and nutrition choices
– Leading an overhaul of school nutrition programs
– Promoting a more active lifestyle through physical activity
– Making healthful foods more affordable and accessible to families
This program basically intends to target children and make them more aware of what they are eating so that they can adopt a healthier lifestyle. This program also intends to make children more physically active.Let’s Move was initiated in February and it has four main goals of battling the bulge; of making parents more aware of what their children are eating, leading an overhaul of school nutrition programs, promoting an active lifestyle and making health-foods more affordable and accessible to families. It is being hoped that this program will play a big part in catering to child obesity problems.
“We want to eliminate this problem of childhood obesity in a generation. We want to get that done,” the first lady told “Good Morning America’s” Robin Roberts. “We want our kids to face a different and more optimistic future in terms of their lifespan.”
