Pursuitist item of the day — the Magpie Chandelier from Anthropologie. When Michelle Obama decorated the White House bedroom of first daughters Malia and Sasha, they chose a whimsical chandelier handmade of castoffs, trinkets and other found objects. That $4,800 Magpie Chandelier, designed by a South African art collective commissioned by Anthropologie stores for its catalog, signals a growing trend in home furnishings in general.
Details from Anthropologie:
Found objects, trinkets and cast-offs revel in their new role as exuberant participants in this celebratory fixture. Each is a bespoke creation crafted by hand of reclaimed materials, so no two will be exactly alike. Created by Shane Petzer, Scott Hart, Sean Daniel and Richard Panaino, the members of the Magpie Art Collective.
