A massive Mediterranean-style mansion in the Dominican Republic is headed to auction on May 15. Lionsate Mansion is a 23,000 square-foot home in the Sea Horse Ranch gated community on the North Coast. The home is on four acres of land located in Cabarete, 15 minutes by car from Puerto Plata international Airport. The estate has US style infrastructure with manicured common areas, complete privacy, 24-hour security, private beaches, restaurant, equestrian center and lit tennis courts. The home is conveniently located near shopping, dining and a championship golf course. The area offers excellent American/international private schools and a new modern medical center.
The home’s luxury amenities include a THX movie theater, golf and fire arms simulator, four-level hydraulic elevator for six people, gothic wine cellar, a kitchen with walk-in cool room and more. Outside an outdoor kitchen and BBQ stations and an oversized swimming pool with four underwater windows make outdoor entertaining a breeze. The property also has two saunas, steam room, gym, private fresh water lake with white sandy beach, basketball court, beach volley ball, helicopter landing area and more to create a true island paradise.
The home is being offered at auction by auctioneer Joel Langer of International Investment Auction. It is a no-reserve charity auction which will also benefit the Pujols Famly Foundation, the charity created by baseball player Alfred Pujols, a native of the Dominican Republic to help children in his homeland. In the past Langer has worked with Harrison Ford, Garth Brooks, and others to help raise money through charity auctions.
The property was built 10 years ago as a vacation home and the owners want to give to this worthwhile cause. At the real estate auction on May 15, 2013, the standard buyer’s premium will be waived by the auctioneer and RD$5,000,000 (approximately $130,000) will be donated instead to the Pujols Family Foundation.
Lionsgate Mansion is valued at over $10 million US dollars. The opening bid is $3.5 million US dollars. The auction will take place at the mansion and bids will be taken live and via telephone.
