Recently, Louis Vuitton opened its latest flagship store in the Shinjuku area of Toyko. The french luxury house operates two other boutiques in the area, but has now added its first street level standalone store.

The two-story building features women’s bags and accessories on the 1st floor and travel luggage, men’s items and women’s shoes and pret-a-porter on the 2nd floor. At the center stairwell, a stunning light sculpture created by Korean artist Do-Ho Suh ties the store together. Called “Cause and Effect,” Suh’s sculpture is made up of 42,000 clear acrylic resin human figures hanging from a ceiling frame crafted out of stainless steel and aluminum.

Window displays designed by Sofia Coppola, which were also shown in the windows of Le Bon Marche Paris in October, are currently on display until mid-January.

Actress Yoko Maki made an appearance during the opening ceremony of the new store, along with Frederic Grange, company president and CEO of Louis Vuitton Japan. Grange added, “We decided to invest more into our Japan operations starting in 2011, and began planning boutiques on Namiki-dori, Matsuya Ginza, and this new Shinjuku outlet. These three stores are extremely important to us, and I’m delighted that we were able to realize them in the space of these two years.”
