South African Louis Oosthuizen won golf’s biggest prize, winning big at St. Andrews to capture the British Open by seven strokes.
The victory comes one week after South Africa concluded hosting the World Cup – and also on the day that happened to be Nelson Mandela’s 92nd birthday.
“It felt a bit special, really,” Oosthuizen said. “When I walked down 18, I was thinking about his birthday.”
Oosthuizen dominated this year’s event, holding the lead for the final 48 holes.
