Founded in 1826, Lord & Taylor is the oldest department store in the United States and yet, is one of the leading premier retailers too enchant everyone with its annual holiday windows. Lord & Taylor’s flagship store on Fifth Avenue and 39th Street welcomes the holiday season with the Enchanted Forest themed display that takes customers on a whimsical winter journey.The store’s five windows have got a winter wonderland makeover and is home to thirty four hand-sculpted spirited holiday animals. While the flagship’s façade features more than 9,000 feet of mixed garland, foliage, twinkling lights and cheerful holiday music, over 350 square feet of LED walls enhance each vignette to complete the magical display.
Designed to indulge the visitors in the holiday spirit, the animated wintry animal scenes feature bunnies ice-skating on a forest pond, squirrels playing above, mice frolicking merrily with snow-covered bear friend, mother owl protecting her new-born babies on treetop nest, peaceful foxes slumbering underground, dancing raccoons and a gaggle of geese wrapped in a wreath.
Lord & Taylor introduced its first-ever animated holiday windows in 1937. Considered a gift to the city, the retailer never includes commercial products in its animated displays on Fifth Avenue.
