La Compagnie, a new all-business class airline, is set to take off next month with daily flights that will shuttle travelers between Paris and New York.
Pitched as a premium transatlantic service with competitive pricing, the Boeing 757-200, which normally holds 230 passengers, has been modified to fit 74 seats.
Flyers will be given Samsung Galaxy Pro 12-inch tablet for their in-flight entertainment and fed by Michelin-starred French chef Christophe Langrée, whose resume includes stints at the Hotel Matignon, the official residence of the prime minister of France, and Faust, a recently opened restaurant under the Pont Alexandre III in Paris.
Passengers flying La Compagnie will depart Paris Charles de Gaulle airport at 5.50pm, and arrive the same day at Newark airport at 8.30pm.
Flights out of New York, meanwhile, depart at 9.45pm and arrive the next day in Paris 11.30am.
Amenities like face and eye creams and lip balm are supplied by Caudalie, a French “vinotherapy” skin care line based on the antioxidant properties of grape seed polyphenols
La Compagnie is hoping to succeed where others have failed.
“It is not the same model as has been tried before. It is not a deja vu,” La Compagnie co-founder and Deputy CEO Peter Luethi said Tuesday at a press conference in New York announcing the launch. “It is not going to be the most luxurious business class, but it will be the best for the price.”
Tickets went on sale in France on Monday with round-trip airfare priced around $1,800, $2,400 and $4,600 depending on change and cancellation options. A summer sale will offer round-trip tickets for less. Tickets are expected to go on sale in the United States around June 25.
Flights begin July 11. For more information, visit lacompagnie.com.
