Jeremy Renner, the Hurt Locker Oscar-winning star, has been offered the starring role in Tony Gilroy’s The Bourne Legacy. Gilroy, who wrote or co-wrote the first three films in Universal’s Bourne saga, has been auditioning actors for the last few weeks to play a new lead character different from Matt Damon’s Jason Bourne. Disappointingly, Matt Damon isn’t returning for the fourth movie, so the producers want to keep the money-making Bourne franchise alive. Renner is a very good option, but there is also the rumor that Renner is taking over Mission: Impossible from Tom Cruise. Between these two movies and the Avengers, Jeremy Renner is positioned to become a very profitable, but busy, summer blockbuster star.
