ANIMAL WELFARE- Linens and Things
This month, the hotel and spa will be donating linens to the LA/SPCA. Animal lover and Spa Director Daisye Dykes kick started this program earlier in the year and is now involving the hotel in the effort.

HEALTH AND WELL-BEING- Nurse Cindy Moran
From blood drives for Chef Murphy to flu shots, nutrition and H1N1 education, Occupational Health Nurse Cindy Moran looks after the health and well-being of the staff of The Ritz-Carlton and Marriott Hotels of New Orleans.

COSTUMES ENCOURAGED- Hobgoblin Tea
From tea servers to tea patrons (children and adults), costumes are encouraged for the annual Hobgoblin Tea on All Hallow’s Eve. Enjoy a costume contest and edible holiday creations from the pastry kitchen.

VOODOO LOVE- Ritual or Spa Service
The Spa’s most popular indigenous treatment is Marie Laveau’s Voodoo Love Massage and Bath. From authentic voodoo tribal drum music and red flickering candles to an essence of Voodoo Love-infused bath and massage, this spa service is more than a Halloween ritual, it’s an experience.

JAZZ HAPPY HOUR- Thursdays in The Davenport Lounge
Happy hour enthusiasts can enjoy a jazzed up version every Thursday from 5:30 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. thanks to the stylings of the hotel’s headliner, Jeremy Davenport, and complimentary Davenportinis. Mixologist Daniel Victory is always on hand to create a classic Sidecar, Martini or Ramos Gin Fizz.

B&B (Bubbles & Beauty) HAPPY HOUR- Thursdays in The Spa
To compliment the success of the Davenport Lounge on Thursdays, ladies can now enjoy champagne (bubbles) and makeup application lessons (beauty) as part of the B&B Happy Hour in The Spa.

BREAST CANCER AWARENESS- Imagine-Tini
In conjunction with the 25th annual National Breast Cancer Awareness month, Mixologist Daniel Victory has created the Imagine-Tini (Pink Gin Martini; 4 ounces Bombay Gin and 1 teaspoon of Angostura Bitters). A percentage of the proceeds will be donated to the New Orleans Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

HOLIDAY DECOR- Papa Noel’s Workshop
Take a tour of Papa Noel’s workshop where Joe Young, the hotel’s master carpenter, is designing and constructing this year’s two-story gingerbread house. The new design will be unveiled by a secret guest around the holidays. Also in the workshop are elements of the courtyard’s forty-foot Christmas tree along with dozens of smaller trees, wreaths, garlands and toy soldiers. Papa Noel room rates start at $159.

ART OF GIVING- One Child to Another
Every year, the children of The Little School at St. Martin’s come to the hotel to enjoy a reading of the story of the Gingerbread Man and donate a wrapped toy to children who might not otherwise receive a gift. This year’s recipients are the children of the Good Shepherd School and the New Orleans Battered Women’s Shelter.

MASTER OF TEA – Marc Roberson
Since the hotel first opened in 2000, Marc Roberson has served as the Master of Tea. His knowledge of tea service is only surpassed by his ability to remember every guest’s order, even special requests.

HOLIDAY HOMECOMING- Executive Chef Matthew Murphy
After a slip and fall accident at home left Chef Murphy in critical care, the hospitality community rallied around this beloved chef and father of quadruplets for a fundraiser in June that drew 2,000 patrons. A holiday homecoming is in store for Chef Murphy.

NEW YEAR, NEW RESTAURANT & NEW LOUNGE- Stay Tuned
With the return of Chef Murphy and the popularity of Jeremy Davenport, the hotel’s headline jazz entertainer, some changes are in store for the New Year. Will Mélange Restaurant be renamed and revamped with a new menu featuring Chef Murphy’s signature dishes? Will On Trois Lounge be renamed to reflect the popularity of Davenport and the newly launched Bar Experience cocktail and food menus? Stay tuned.
