French luxury company Kering has chosen award-winning actress Isabelle Huppert as the face of the third edition of its “Women in Motion” programme at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival.
The French actress and Oscar nominee (for Paul Verhoeven’s Elle), will front the campaign and official poster for the program, which is aimed at highlighting women’s achievements in film in front of and behind the camera.
“Women in Motion” will run alongside the Cannes Film Festival, which this year celebrates its 70th anniversary, with the event to comprise of a series of initiatives promoting women’s contribution to film — from talks with industry figures to the “Women in Motion” Awards, to be handed out at a dinner on May 21.
Commenting on the event and its selection of Huppert as the face of the programme this year, Kering CEO Francois Henry Pinault said the actress has been chosen on the basis of her exceptional career and strong links to the Cannes festival, and added that promoting gender equality is “at the heart of Kering’s priorities.”
