Designed by Aamu Song, the performance space at East London’s York Hall took the shape of a huge red dress made from 550 metres of Kvadrat’s classic Divina wool fabric. The Reddress Installation strives to “question the roles we play as the participant or performer, as well as elevating the experiential boundaries of this versatile relationship“. Produced by the Finnish Institute in London and part of the international program of World Design Capital Helsinki 2012, the Reddress can accommodate a group of 238 people in its “pockets”.
Free events during the day and ticketed concerts in the evening will allow the visitors to be part of the show and question the world around them through the artist’s perspective. The Reddress can be admired from 22 to 25 September 2011 during the London Design Festival. You can check out the program here. For those of you who can make it to see the events live, we wish you a great time!
