Under a golden summer sky, New York City’s most discerning epicureans gathered at the Central Park Conservancy’s Taste of Summer, an annual culinary fête that marries gourmet excellence with the preservation of the city’s most iconic green space. Held on Wednesday, June 12, the event transformed Bethesda Terrace into an al fresco dining paradise, where top chefs from across the city presented inventive dishes alongside world-class wines and spirits.

Pernod Ricard USA returned as the official champagne and spirits partner, elevating the evening with a meticulously curated selection of premium pours. Guests sipped on chilled flutes of Perrier-Jouët Grand Brut, its delicate floral notes and crisp elegance mirroring the natural beauty of Central Park. The partnership was a natural fit—Perrier-Jouët’s legacy of horticultural artistry and commitment to sustainability aligns seamlessly with the Conservancy’s mission to protect and enhance the park’s landscapes.

Beyond champagne, the cocktail offerings were a masterclass in summer refreshments. The Absolut Cosmo, a modern twist on the classic, brought a refreshing citrus and cranberry brightness to the affair, while the Italicus Spritz, with its bergamot-laced effervescence, offered a refined take on the aperitivo hour. Each sip was designed to complement the evening’s gourmet bites, with this year’s restaurants including over 42 different chefs, including Bad Roman, COTE Korean Steakhouse, San Sabino, Scarpetta and The Bazaar by José Andrés.

New this year, Pernod Ricard unveiled an immersive “Perfect Pairings” tasting experience in the VIP Taste Café, crafted in collaboration with Quality Branded. This bespoke journey showcased the art of harmony between spirits and cuisine, featuring:
-
Jefferson’s Bourbon alongside San Sabino oysters—the spirit’s caramel warmth enhancing the oysters’ briny sweetness.
-
Código 1530 Tequila & Kahlúa Espresso Martini Shots paired with Bad Roman Cheesecake—a bold, creamy contrast of rich espresso and velvety dessert.
-
Italicus Spritz served with Peekytoe Crab Bahn Knot—the cocktail’s citrusy brightness cutting through the crab’s delicate richness.

More than just a culinary showcase, Taste of Summer serves as a vital fundraiser for the Central Park Conservancy, ensuring the park remains a sanctuary for years to come. As glasses clinked and conversations flowed beneath the covered tents, the evening embodied the perfect marriage of indulgence and purpose.
