In one of the most striking New York City locations, Andaz Fifth Avenue offers guests easy access to all of Midtown. Bryant Park, Radio City Music Hall, Times Square and Broadway’s top theaters are within enclose walking distance. Just across the street is the city’s famous public library, visible from many rooms.
Also visible from many rooms is the Empire State Building, beautifully illuminated at night. From some of the best restaurants and shops to corporate offices aplenty, these are some of our favorite reasons to stay at Andaz Fifth Avenue New York.
The rooms
Designer Tony Chi is responsible for the sleek and sexy look of the rooms here. His goal was to make them look like swanky city lofts with ceilings that soar 12 feet, soft carpeting, trendy furnishings and tall windows with electric blinds. And that he did.
Rooms vary in size and view based on their position in the building. We recommend any room facing the library and Fifth Avenue to take in the views of the Empire State Building, too.
The minimal look of the walls and monochrome sofa or armchairs with ottomans is very attractive. All have beautiful bathrooms with strong pressure in rain showers, Japanese toilets, wide vanities stocked with Fellow Barber toiletries, and robes with slippers.
What really stands out here is the bevy of suite categories like some with a terrace and dining space to the signature Wellness Suite. We’ll get into that category a bit later.
The dining
The Bar Downstairs and Kitchen is a quiet and secluded spot away from the rush of traffic. It’s a great option for business people to bring clients if they want minimal distraction while enjoying an eclectic menu. Many of the ingredients come from local purveyors, something I noticed in my delicious kale Caesar salad. The extras
Like all Andaz hotels, guests in every room enjoy a complementary nonalcoholic mini bar, bottles of water, and a selection of snacks, like a chocolate bar and potato chips. Reusable water bottle bottles are in every room with hydration stations on each floor to refill their bottles and then take them home.
When you check into the hotel, every guest is offered a welcome drink, and each morning, there is complimentary coffee and tea laid out in the lobby. Later in the day, for a whopping three hours, guests are treated to their choice of white or red wine to enjoy with the hotel’s compliments. The wellness amenities
The gym is one level below the main entrance and well-equipped with some of the latest equipment. You’ll find Peloton gear, live classes via wall-mounted screens, free weights, punching bags, drawers with refrigerated bottles of water, and sometimes even protein bars.
Unique for this hotel are its Wellness Suites, which include a variety of features designed around well-being (a focus of many of Hyatt’s brands). Perhaps the first thing you will notice is the workout gear like free weights, yoga mats, and a wall-mounted screen with live, televised workouts that you can participate in during your stay. A workout in the privacy of your suite is something not every hotel can offer.
On the wall, there is plant-based art. In the bathroom, you will find special bath salts designed to boost your magnesium levels as you soak in the tub. Bedside white noise machines help to drown out any excess noise. There is also a specialized menu of healthy things you can order to the room to make your stay better. The service
