Luxurious handbag collectors and Hermès fans in New York need to keep themselves free on 28th April. Heritage New York Luxury Accessories Auction is coming to Manhattan with a wide range of rare, exotic Hermes handbags. The auction is also offering an assortment of goodies from Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Judith Leiber, Gucci, Dior and the likes along with an abundance of Hermes creations. The highlights of one of the most important spring event are two Hermès handbags sporting the signature Himalayan mark.
Made in 1982, the above featured Hermes Extremely Rare Shiny Himalaya Bag is revered to be one of the rarest piece from the fashion house. Currently up for a minimum bid of $15,000, this colorful legendary bag sports the famous “Kelly” style gold plated closure on the front. Making use of combination of four skins (Rouge Vif Ostrich, Vert Foncé Alligator, Violet Veau Doblis Suede and Black Calf Box Leather) has raised the uniqueness of this bag. Sized at 14″ Width x 17″ Height x 6″ Depth, this highly collectible piece makes a perfect tote for daily wear.
The second Hermes creation to draw attention is the extremely rare Matte White Himalayan Nilo Crocodile Birkin Bag. Made almost three decades after the above mentioned Himalaya bag, this is also one of the rarest Hermes bags in existence making it a true collector’s piece. Flaunting a delicate gradient coloring which is inspired by the snowy mountaintops of the world’s tallest mountain range, this Birkin is one of the most difficult bags to produce due to the delicate nature of the tanning process. The white Himalayan Nilo Crocodile body encloses the Gris Tourterelle Chevre leather interior which also complements the natural tones of the crocodile. Fitted with palladium hardware, it has been made in Mini edition making it more exceptional. The current bid is reserved at $42,500 but considering its uniqueness, it will go under the hammer for a much higher price.
And we couldn’t sign out of this post without mentioning about the whimsical Hermes Kelly Doll bag. Estimated at $3,000 – $4,000, at the time of writing, the Hermes Limited Edition Noisette Gulliver Leather Quelle Idole Kelly Doll Bag is carrying a $2,000 bid. Hermes bags are synonymous to elegance and classic. Very rarely do we come across a Kelly with a comical character. The small Kelly will make user as well as onlookers smile with its doll like appearance with a smiling face and leather arms and feet.
Two previews of this auction are scheduled, first at Dallas from April 11-12 and second at Beverly Hills from April 17-19.
