In an exciting new chapter, Hermès, the esteemed Parisian house of high fashion, has graced the chic ski town of Aspen, Colorado, with its very own store – a majestic testament to the brand’s expansive American presence. This marks the 34th Hermès outpost in the U.S., and it’s no coincidence that this Rockies-set location sits nestled amid the very elements that have long inspired the luxury brand: the majesty of mountains, the tranquility of trees, and the call of the wild.
The grand opening on June 16, 2023, brought Aspen’s style aficionados a haven that harmoniously merges Hermès’ craftsmanship with the local environment. Here, every discerning visitor can immerse themselves in the complete Hermès experience, where the house’s 16 métiers are showcased in a setting that pays homage to Aspen’s natural allure.
From the first glimpse, one is captivated by how the sun’s rays dance on the façade of the original building, giving it an ethereal glow. Stepping inside, you’re enveloped in an ambiance reminiscent of a lush forest, with soft carpets mirroring the texture of moss and undergrowth laid upon grey-blue Aspen stone.
Every corner of this chalet, reimagined by Parisian architecture agency RDAI, holds a new Hermès secret to discover. The ground floor invites visitors to explore the exquisite silk collections, fashion accessories, fragrances, and beauty offerings before transitioning into an intimate space dedicated to leather goods. A sense of mystique and exclusivity is further heightened by a charming wooden screen.
As one ascends to the mezzanine, the maison universe unfurls before the eyes, with equestrian collections nestled amid grey and bright gold hues that echo the surrounding birch trees. The second floor, awash with natural light, is a playground of elegance, hosting a shoe lounge by the fireplace, men’s and women’s ready-to-wear collections, as well as jewelry and watches exhibited in their own luxurious yellow velvet boudoir.
The store is as much an homage to Hermès craftsmanship as it is to Aspen’s local charm, beautifully highlighting the larch wood’s warm, honey color in its staircase and offering panoramic views of the neighboring peaks through a spectacular bay window.
The Hermès Aspen location is more than a store; it’s a gallery, showcasing a curated collection of original artworks that reflect the site’s mineral and organic essence. From a striking creation by Jean-Luc Favéro celebrating piebald horses, to Yann Stofer’s evocative photograph, “Horse in the Snow,” the spirit of the wild is in every detail.
Hermès Aspen promises to be more than just a retail experience. It’s a serene, sophisticated retreat where the brand’s longstanding patrons, along with a new generation of luxury lovers, can discover the richness of Hermès collections. This unique space where stone and wood, artistry and nature resonate in harmony, is indeed a true reflection of the elegant and fun Hermès philosophy.
