Talk about a special delivery! Actor George Clooney personally delivered his new tequila brand to Venice’s Hotel Cipriani. The Casamigos Tequila brand was created by Clooney and his friend Rande Gerber, as they are both fans of the Mexican spirit. The actor arrived in Venice for the International Film Festival and had a special delivery for one of the city’s most iconic hotels.
Arriving in style on the water, the Ocean’s Eleven actor pulled up outside the Hotel Cipriani with five cases of Casamigos Tequila. The Orient Express-owned hotel is the first in Europe to stock the tequila brand, which goes by the slogan “brought to you by those who drink it.”
Clooney said that he was very excited to see that Hotel Cipriani was going to carry his tequila. He said that he often stays in this luxury hotel whenever he is in Venice or visiting other places in Europe. As Hotel Cipriani is one of his favorite destination, he is pleased that he could bring his signature drink to them.
According to Clooney, his tequila is named after his friend’s property in Mexico. A rough translation of this name is “house of friends.” In short, Clooney feels that this is a tequila that is best enjoyed with others.
Since its launch in January, Casamigos has become the world’s most popular and fastest-growing tequila, with Oprah Winfrey naming it her favorite brand. “Our idea was to make the best-tasting, smoothest tequila whose taste didn’t have to be covered up with salt or lime,” added Clooney.
To mark the arrival of Casamigos at Hotel Cipriani, head barman Walter Bolzonella has created a signature cocktail named Goodnight Amigos, an adaptation of Clooney’s own cocktail, the Buonatte. As well as the original ingredients of lime, ginger and cucumber peel, the cocktail contains two drops of Angostura and, of course, a tequila base.
