French architects Catherine Mosbach and Philippe Rahm have won an international contest to design a $90 million urban park in central Taiwan, officials on the island said Wednesday.

The duo, in collaboration with Taiwanese architect Ricky Liu, were picked for an “original and forward-looking” design integrating the concept of climate change into the 68-hectare (168-acre) park, said the Taichung city government.

They aim to monitor temperature, humidity, and pollution through computer simulations in order to “micro-adjust” the climate and create a “smart ecology park,” it said in a statement.

The vast park will also include a cultural centre, a tower and a cinema, as well as tennis, basketball and baseball courts, it said.
