A historic property in Sausalito, California that tycoon William Randolph Hearst previously owned and once planned to build Hearst Castle is on the market for $4.25 Million. The land provides an absolutely stunning view of the San Francisco Bay. Hearst was fascinated by Sausalito and purchased the land to create a secluded waterside domain, but never did build his castle. This is the first time in 33 years the estate has been on the market.
However, it is the lot that is currently listed. There is a house on the property, but it will be demolished for the buyer’s new home.
Listed by Coldwell Banker Real Estate’s Lois Scheinberg, the $4.25 million lot includes boundaries that extend from Josephine to Bridgeway, and captures 180-degree unobstructed views of Sausalito and the Bay Area. The property also holds plans for a new, three-story, sun-drenched home designed by renowned architect Andrew Skurman.
