Impractical footwear? Fashion statement? Power play? A new exhibit at the Brooklyn Museum’s first floor Robert E. Blum Gallery takes a look at all things High Heel, from their history… to the enduring effects of those extra inches.
Killer Heels: The Art of the High Heel Shoe, runs September 10, 2014 through February 15, 2015. It is at once a smorgasboard for the shoe lover and study of the high heeled shoe’s place in society.
From 17th century to present day, some 160 heels — on loan from designers, costume museums and fashion house collections — are on display, providing enough shoe porn in the form of sky high platforms, stilettos, wedges and other architectural wonders to keep you coming back for more.
