Aesthetically embedded in a picturesque historical building located in the Gothic Quarter of Barcelona, Spain, the striking Mercer Hotel Barcelona was envisioned by Spanish architect Rafael Moneo and exudes plenty of design character.
The hotel was completed in 2012 and despite its traditional- and delightful- exterior, features highly modern rooms and amenities. The unit has a total of 28 bedrooms, spread over three floors, each displaying exposed wooden beams : “the bedrooms, like every other space throughout the hotel, have been designed to sympathetically combine the restored historical heritage with high quality materials and modern furnishings, meticulously and thoughtfully chosen by the architectural team.” One of the most alluring features of this accommodation unit is probably its medieval courtyard, framed by 17th century columns and enriched by beautiful orange trees. Impressive arches and balconies make this space a perfect morning retreat for coffee or tea.
