Looking to lose some weight? One free, healthy tool may be right at our fingertips: water.
A recent study found that drinking two glasses of water before a meal may help you lose weight. The study found that obese dieters who drank two 8-ounce glasses of water before breakfast, lunch and dinner lost five pounds more than dieters who didn’t increase their water intake.
The study is the first to test the theory that drinking water helps you lose weight.
The study’s authors don’t know why the dieters who drank water lost weight, but some speculate that drinking water often replaces other liquid intake – which often has calories – such as soda, milk and juice. The other theory is that water before eating simply fills you up a little more – so you eat less.
