Dolce & Gabbana is opening a new store, Dolce & Gabbana Spiga2, in Milan on Saturday, and even for a brand known for the unconventional, the store will be unusual. It will sell not only accessories from the main Dolce & Gabbana line but also clothing and other items from 21 newer designers such as Yigal Azruel, Sophie Theallet and Martin Grant. These are labels that would compete with Dolce & Gabbana in any other realm. But for this store, the young designers themselves were asked to choose items from their fall collections to sell. Spiga2 purchased the items—this isn’t a consignment store. “I told Sophie Theallet, ‘You choose your five favorite looks and I’ll buy them,’ ” Stefano Gabbana said in a phone interview. “We are big. We’re good. We’re Dolce & Gabbana. Why not give someone new a chance?” – from WSJ
