Sure the Devon Tread 1 watch is a luxury timepieces, but it doesn’t have much in common with most luxury timepieces. While it is technically mechanical, it isn’t in the horological sense – as it makes use of motors, a small computer, and electronics. It has more in common with a robot in terms of its insides than it does a classic mechanical watch. Yet, the Devon Tread 1 sits on your wrist and tells you the time, so it must be a timepiece. Dreamed up in California, not Europe, the Tread 1 uses the now trendy concept of having moving conveyor belt style treads to tell the time as they move numbers under windows. Look closely at the watch and you’ll quickly understand how to tell the time, even though it is an intimidating vision at your first glance. The dial has belts for the hours, minutes, and seconds. The latter of which moves in a “ticking” motion. – From James List
