Fashion and home wares designer Kelly Wearstler has added her Beverly Hills mansion to the For Sale list. The in-demand interior maven has listed her 9-bed, 14-bath former home for $39 million [via our good friends at Curbed.]
The 14,000 square foot estate was designed in 1934 by architect James Dolena for the Hollywood power couple of William Powell and Carole Lombard. The home was then owned by producer Cubby Broccoli and his wife, actress and novelist Dana Wilson, before being bought by Wearstler in 2004.
The home exudes Old Hollywood glamour from the moment one passes beneath the decorative half-shell lintel of the front door. The 5-bedroom home also includes a screening room, gym, and a large chef’s kitchen. Dark wood floors, paneled interiors, crown moldings, and well-proportioned vistas complete the interior.
Outside, conservative landscaping surrounds an elegant swimming pool and ivy-covered pool house. Also on the 3.62 acre property is a 2-bedroom guest house and a tennis court.
Kelly Wearstler was raised in South Carolina, but has left her professional mark on the West Coast, where she built a reputation as a sought-after interior designer. Her creative interiors and bold use of color and structural elements has strongly influenced the design world and has led to the publication of three books, including ‘Domicillium Decoratus’.
