Commissioned to give new life to a 1950s house, Nico Van Der Meulen Architects imagined a bright, open and dynamic collection of rooms altering the existing construction to shape a modern dream home. Located in Cape Town, South Africa, this inspiring display of contemporary materials and design lines was shaped on a single story floor plan. Named the Moss Oaklands Residence, the construction boasts double volume spaces and was created with the use of a natural color palette that brings comfort and brightness inside.
Needing to have an urban design adorning each space, the owner included included this in the brief and architects executed the request by shaping the modern residence out of contemporary furniture and furnishings. Furthermore, by sliding large glass doors, a seamless connection to the outside can be created, uniting interiors and exterior in an unobstructed design language. A swimming pool and manicured garden join colorful details to create a unique suite of interior and exterior spaces adapted to the client’s needs and wishes.
