Escaping into a modern paradise every time you come home is part of the dream home experience. The Laranjeiras Residence is a perfect example of how nature and modern architecture connect at a complex level. A hybrid between finished and unfinished wood details, between rustic and high-tech, this luxurious residence on Rio de Janeiro’s southern coast connects man and nature as a summer house should. Designed by São Paulo-based studio Fernanda Marques Arquitetos Associados, the Brazilian 10,225 square foot summer house within a gated community hides a steel structure underneath its magnificent wood-covered interiors and outer shell. Large glazed windows provide each space with the opportunity of enjoying views of the beautiful surrounding landscape.
Generous interiors were given the opportunity to display a collection of modern furniture that keeps the “seaside mood”. The hexagonal mirroring tables in the main living space become witnesses to the changing of seasons – deeper into the compact structure, a fishnet glamorously hangs from the ceiling, adding charming tear drop-shaped light filters to the double-height wintergarden-like space. Throughout the house, lacquer, mirrors and stainless steel were combined with sea-grass and reclaimed wood to compose a symphony of modern and rustic.
