Dreaming of a white Christmas? I’m dreaming more specifically about a white Christmas comforted inside a stunning residence like La Muna – “one of the first homes built in the ultra-exclusive enclave of Red Mountain in Aspen Colorado.” Designed by Oppenheim Architecture and Design, this rustic chalet was accentuated by a very inspired choice of design lines, materials, colors and textures. Renovating this jewel meant offering a second chance to a fantastic property – it promises to keep you comfortable while offering inspiring views of snow-covered surroundings.
The renovation also included an addition, transforming the outdated chalet into a striking contemporary home. Described by its designers as “an homage to the Japanese sensibility of wabi sabi“, the modern chalet was intended to have a minimum impact on the surroundings – solar collectors provide power and hot water, while large operable panels of insulated glass protect the interiors from harsh weather outside, offering a continuous visual appeal connected to the outside. The reclaimed wood from local sources, stone and steel compose a striking facade prolonging indoors.
