Thanks to Maria Gigney Architects, with offices in Hobart, today’s dream home is a stunning residence located in the Battery Point suburb of Hobart, Australia. Named the Kay House, this 3,895 square foot residential project was renovated back in 2002 and now features stunning details and an amazing modern floor plan spread over three stories. The four bedroom, two bath home has large, bright living spaces, but the entrance feels warm and welcoming without being imposing.
An indoor solar heated saltwater lap pool extends the modern lifestyle into a relaxing water-accompanied interior scenery. This covered pool sits in the most light-exposed portion of the house, creating an inspiring space that links the inside to the outside. The existing brick cottage that used to overlook Hobart’s Derwent River was transformed into an exclusive almost entirely glazed modern residence. According to the architects, “passive solar principles were engaged to reduce energy consumption in a structure mostly glazed.”
