Turning a collection of needs and wishes into a dream home is as challenging as it is rewarding. House M stands as an example of how architecture depends on its surroundings and can create a genuine feeling of belonging to a place. Designed by monovolume architecture + design, this contemporary home in Meran, Italy, creates a world where interior and exterior melt one into another, allowing light and fresh air to collaborate in showcasing beautifully simple architectural details.
Transparent and opaque volumes intertwine to create private spaces followed by spaces open to the surrounding views in a dynamic design. Allowing the interiors to flow to the outside, designers created a refined space arrangement that continues from the inside out: “The ground floor follows the slightly sloping ground like a staircase to get a large garden area. Because of engineering technology considerations the building is conceived as a compact volume with one underground and two upper floors.”
