Providing the neighborhood with an impressive concrete shape, the Briones House proudly showcases its volumetric contemporary architecture in Xalapa, Mexico. Imagined by Mexican architectural practice RP Arquitectos, the minimalist dream home sits perched atop a hill that exposes panoramas of the surroundings. The white concrete dream home welcomes owners and guests with a double-height living space that challenges an appreciation of voids and volumes shaping this residential project.
Connecting the public and private areas of the house, a glass bridge hovers above the naturally lit ground floor. Creating a balance between concrete and glass, creative minds managed to construct a residence both the architects and owners can be proud of:
“The main elevation is practically blind, only small perforations let you peep out for the arrival of visitors, maintaining a guarded intimacy to the house. On the contrary, the rear facade opens up to the landscape creating a dialog between the exterior and interior, practically, with all the spaces of the house. Therefore, the house can be interpreted as a great and livable sculpture, where, in every volume there is a space with its function but at the same time forms part of a whole where one would not be possible without the other.”
