Gathered under the name “etc 1”, this furniture series you are about to admire indulges in an artistic definition of modern materials inspired by the natural process of erosion found in nature. UK-based designers Alessandro Isola and Supriya Mankad from IM lab imagined a flexible, easy to configure collection of furniture pieces. Designed for the modern home where shapes, materials, textures and inspiration revive the idea of luxury, “etc 1” displays a configuration inspired by erosion, a beauty defined by constant change.
Cork and felt were chosen as materials due to their durability and eco-friendliness. Accessing the idea behind erosion – objects become smoother and sometimes showcase new openings – the designers imagined this modern furniture series as a collection of individual volumes that can be used separately or together around the home. Part of the collection, a console, a coffee table, a stand, a bookshelf or a bench can also store magazines and bric-a-bracks in their sinuous pockets.
