The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company is furthering their expansion into India with the opening of a second property, the Ritz-Carlton Hotel, Mumbai, planned for a early 2017 launch. Part of an agreement with Oberoi Realty and Sahana Group, the property is to be the second in India, following the recent opening of The Ritz-Carlton, Bangalore.
The 238-room hotel will be in Worli, one of Mumbai’s business districts, and will be located close to the area’s international airport.
Highlights of the new property will include spectacular views of the city skyline and a mix of luxury residential and hotel spaces in a high-rise tower, as well as interior design for renowned guru Tony Chi, who has worked with brands from Ritz-Carlton to Park Hyatt to Mandarin Oriental to create a luxuriously modern aesthetic that is reflective of each hotel’s native location.
Additional features include an ocean-view bar, two specialty and fine dining restaurants, a Ritz-Carlton Spa and extensive banquet and meeting spaces for the high profile events and society weddings for which Mumbai is known.
“We have been searching for the perfect location for a premier hotel in Mumbai for several years,” said Herve Humler, president and chief operating officer of The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company. “This site offers everything hotel guests could want—a prime business location, stylish and contemporary design in this historically rich and vibrant city.”
