Ciclotte is an innovative exercise bike, designed and Made in Italy combining idea, form and technology in rethinking the traditional aesthetic and functional values of an exercise bike. Ciclotte has been manufactured using exceptional materials like carbon, steel and glass fibres and represents a complete innovation in the fitness sector thanks to the unique technology of the epicycloids transmission system.

Designed by Luca Schieppati, a young designer from Milan, and manufactured by the Lamiflex Group in Bergamo, Ciclotte breaks with the designs of gym equipment that have always emphasized the functional as- pects, to address a target market of progressive, dynamic users that appreciate both physical and aesthetic lines.

The concept of the Ciclotte was created from the need to introduce a design into everyday living, which could be a real expression of contemporary living where work and relaxation, exercise and entertainment share a single dimension, within fluid spaces where all objects can interact with one another. Thanks to its lines, which are the result of research that was inspired by ergonomics and providing the essentials, Ciclotte is both a piece of fitness equipment and a furniture accessory that can be integrated into the most varied living contexts: home, office, gym and the outdoors.

The large wheel on the Ciclotte forms the cornerstone of the project. A large circle that is reminiscent of the old fashioned motorcycles from the end of the 1800’s, which has been transformed into an object of superior engi- neering, destined to become a must in the world of interior design and luxury fitness. Other distinctive features include the unusual carbon handlebar, the touch screen display inspired by home automation systems and the support arms with their unique curvature.

From a technical viewpoint, the Ciclotte has been designed to faithfully reproduce the dynamics and performance of on-road pedalling, and is also ideal for high intensity aerobic training like spinning.
Ciclotte is a follow on from the Ciclò project, an innovative prototype of a single wheel city bike, which is now part of the permanent collection exhibited at the Triennale Design Museum in Milan after having participated in various international exhibitions.

The Lamiflex Group has been operating for more than thirty years in the composite technical material’s sector supporting various industries and applications, predominantly in the furniture and lighting, aeronautical, medical, textile and sporting sectors.

The expertise developed over the years and the constant research conducted by the Lamiflex Group’s R&D Department has allowed the company to develop highly innovative solutions and reach quality levels that are ideal for any type of hi-tech application.

The results achieved are demonstrated in consistent and competitive growth: dynamism, precision in production and research, as well as constant technological innovation, have allowed the Group to establish itself both in Italy and abroad as a world leader in the field of technical laminated composites, offering innovative, and often revolu- tionary products that are always at the leading edge.

In order to optimise the production processes, the Lamiflex Group designs and creates fully customised prod- ucts, components and solutions that are based on the specific requirements of the customer, providing complete support during all the development stages and producing of a prototype.

Luca Schieppati was born in Italy in 1979. After completing high school, he obtained a Degree in Industrial De- sign from the Milan Polytechnic. He lives and works in Milan, where he is a lecturer in courses on Graphics and Computer Graphics at the European Design Institute (IED Moda Lab).

In 2007 he became the founding partner of 141 Ideas for Innovation Ltd, with registered offices in London, a pro- motions company for design throughout the world; he served as spokesperson for the “Muoviti” competition on ideas, together with Roberto Giolito (designer of the FIAT 500) and Marco Lambro (designer of the Piaggio Mp3). During December of the same year his development of the Ciclò project for the Milan Triennale, earned him a place at the Triennale Design Museum.

His projects have been included in prestigious national and international design exhibitions like “The new Italian Design” held in Milan and Madrid; “Milan Made in Design” in Peking and Shanghai; “the Creativity Festival” in Flo- rence; “DAS Designer After School” in Rome.
