Dita Von Teese’s charisma lured Christian Louboutin to team up with the American burlesque dancer for a lingerie capsule collection. The duo are back together as the Parisian footwear designer designs one-of-a-kind burlesque shoes for Dita to honor her return to the mythical Crazy Horse Paris stage in “Dita’s Crazy Show,” staged in honor of the cabaret’s 65th anniversary. The dancer who also happens to be Christian’s dear friend has been passionate about donning red soles very frequently. Dita brings back select styles from the Crazy Horse show to the the next leg of her acclaimed “Strip, Strip, Hooray!” tour opening at the Avalon in Los Angeles, California. Christian and Dita have devised seven pairs of bespoke shoes created specifically for the show’s five original acts. The showgirl’s customized heels collection comprises of a Cat Woman 120 which has been modified with a thin ankle strap specifically to show up on a tableau-style projection. The strass on the shoe was created to imitate the silk of Dita’s gown created by couturier Zuhair Murad. The highlight of the collection is a pair of heels with Dita emblazoned along the top in gleaming strass. For this shoe, Christian sketched a brand new design at the atelier. Using a two-piece construction from the back of the shoe to the toe, the ankle strap and toe are held together by an invisible PVC strap ornamented with the letters D-I-T-A. Crafted in Italy, even the heel of the shoe was created specifically for Dita to dance in with more ease. However Dita’s favorite shoe is the criss-cross Vagalami which has been customized in glistening, all-over silver strass to match another one of her dazzling gowns.Another trompe l’oeil red sole is designed such that when the cabaret lights illuminate Dita’s feet, it gives an illusion of dancing on spikes!Von Teese kicks off the 2016 U.S. extension of her burlesque show on April 12 in Los Angeles and plays dates through May 1 in San Francisco, Seattle, Portland, Ore. and Santa Ana, Calif.Footwear News Via Christian Louboutin
