Wine drinkers and connoisseurs are well versed with some of the finest Champagne from Charles Heidsieck. Thierry Roset is the current chef de cave at this renowned Champagne house. And to mark his 25th anniversary as the cell master, Charles Heidsieck has re-released a limited number of one of its finest creations. Exclusively available at Harrods, the Blanc des Millénaires 1985 is very rare.
The limited edition wine is a blend of five of the most renowned Chardonnay crus, namely Vertus, Avize, Chouilly, Oger and Mesnil-sur-Oger, from the Côtes des Blancs region. The classic mix has been aged in the house’s two thousand-year-old Roman chalk cellars for almost thirty years. It is also reported that this extraordinary blend boasts of notes of fig and tobacco, combined with hints of truffle and honey. Displaying all the noble characteristics of mature Chardonnay, the re-issued edition features the structure, finesse and intensity to further develop and mature, only to get better with time.
Each bottle is numbered and packed in a commemorative box. The cellaring process lies at the heart of Champagne Charles Heidsieck and
the limited edition bottles have been newly packaged to reflect this. Echoing the shape of the house’s crayères, the new casing is reminiscent of
the Champagne Charles Heidsieck bottle shaped doorway leading to Crayère number nine.
Chef de Cave Thierry Roset also speaks in praise, “Patience, precision, passion and time are the keys to being a good cellar master. I like to think of time as the fourth grape variety in Champagne; it is absolutely crucial to creating a beautiful Champagne. I’m delighted the Blanc des Millénaires 1985 will be enjoyed and shared.”
Head to the Wine & Spirits Room on Harrods’ Lower Ground Floor and grab a bottle of the limited edition Blanc des Millénaires 1985 for $675. It will certainly make the best gift for Champagne connoisseurs as well as collectors.
