The Hyères Festival 2015 edition welcomed Maison Chanel as its guest of honor, with Karl Lagerfeld overseeing its artistic direction. The French luxury fashion house marked the five-day festival with a party at the villa Romaine, overlooking the Mediterranean.The 30th anniversary edition of the Hyères festival upped the ante with the ubiquitous presence of Karl Lagerfeld. Chanel’s party venue, Roman Villa is a magnificent house of Hyeres which also happens to be Christian Dior’s vacation destination. The evening saw Anna Mouglalis read poems by Catherine Pozzi accompanied by French singer Christophe on the piano.
WWD reports that Karl Lagerfeld, Princess Caroline of Hanover and Jean-Charles de Castelbajac indulged in the hits, including “Aline” and “Les mots bleus”, doled out by the romantic singer.The 58 year old Monaco royal, who is renowned for her timeless sense of style, also played the role of a judge at the festival. Princess Caroline stated, “There is a very nice ambiance here; there is softness, an energy that isn’t frenetic and openness in general.” As it was her first as a fashion jury, she modestly spoke about her past experiences, “You will laugh. The only time I have been on a jury before was a few years ago for the 150th anniversary of a cathedral; there was a contest for the best chasuble. There was magnificent Lesage embroideries though.”Known as the chicest French woman, Caroline de Maigret was also a judge at the festival. She has been familiar with the festival that celebrates emerging fashion designers and photographers as 20 years ago she walked as a model at Hyères. She also added that, “Christophe is the French Johnny Cash.”
V magazine’screative director Stephen Gan also attended the event as well as Chanel’s party. His statement bought attention to the much-talked-about Rihanna-dominated issue of V magazine which is all set hit the newsstands in one week. Other guests included Felipe Oliveira Baptista, Simon Porte Jacquemus, Cécile Cassel, Céline Sallette and the young finalists of the competition.Take a look at the film of the opening of the 30th International Fashion and Photography Festival in Hyères.
