Felicity Loudon, who’s great-great-father John Cadbury founded the Cadbury chocolate company in 1824, plans to start a rival chocolate company. She is selling a $40 million country estate to help launch the new company.
The Cadbury heiress was an opponent of the recent sale of the Cadbury company to Kraft, saying, ‘I can’t accept that Cadbury has gone to America. To a plastic cheese company. I won’t accept it. I want to start again. I want to make chocolate and I’m jolly well going to do it.’
Kraft acquired Cadbury in a $19.5 billion deal five months ago.
The estate she and her husband are putting up for sale is an eight-bedroom home set in 100 acres near Faringdon, Oxfordshire.
