Bottega Veneta is set to introduce its first ever watch following a development process that has taken two years. The Italian luxury goods house, famous for its handbags, other leather goods and jewellery, says its BVX timepiece will draw on the brand values of the design house. The BVX is $14,600 and will be available starting in December.
“Bottega Veneta’s cornerstones — artisanal craftsmanship, fine-quality materials, contemporary functionality, and timeless design — lend themselves perfectly to watches,” said creative director Tomas Maier. “For us, this introduction is a natural step in the evolution of the brand.”
The watch will be created in conjunction with Sowind Group, owner of Swiss watch houses JeanRichard and Girard-Perregaux, which has led the team that has created the unisex BVX brand. Sowind is part-owned by Gucci Group, which also owns Bottega Veneta.
“Working with the Girard-Perregaux team enabled us to marry Bottega Veneta’s core values with the finest watch making expertise in the world,” concluded Mr Maier.
