Pablo Picasso’s “Portrait of Angel Fernandez de Soto,” a work from the painter’s “blue period,” has sold for $52 million at Christie’s in London Wednesday night.
Prices of top artists have risen steeply in the past year, so many thought the Picasso would sell for more than $60 million.
The Picasso was sold by Andrew Lloyd-Webber to benefit his charitable foundation.
