Bill Gates is the new owner of a magnificent estate, located only 20 minutes away from San Diego, in Rancho Santa Fe. The property has previously belonged to the famous weight-loss guru, Jenny Craig and it was acquired for $18 million. The farm was originally listed for $30 million back in 2010. After dropping the price to $25 million, Craig decided to simply take it off the market. According to Jason Barry from Barry Estates, Ms. Craig had trouble finding a buyer that would rather maintain the charm of the property intact than looking to develop the land.

Ranch detailsSince Jennifer, Gates’ daughter has a deep passion for horse back-riding and enjoys visiting the San Diego area for many years with friends and family, the multi-billionaire Microsoft guru decided to purchase Rancho Paseana, Craig’s 229-acre horse farm without too much fuss.

The freshly acquired property encompasses several barns, a three-quarter-mile race track, a veterinarian compound and an olive orchard and a guest house. The stalls haves enough space to run freely and graze. Gates’ intention is to turn it into a grand prix circuit for hunters and jumpers: “I was happy that the buyer is someone who can afford to turn it into the showplace it was meant to be. It will be kept as a horse barn so the neighbours will be thrilled … the person who bought it will make it like it can and should be.” The interior of the guest house is stylish and decorated with painting and statues of racing horses. The “obsession” doesn’t stop here: the living room even has horse-themed curtains and pillows. The rest of the house looks a bit old fashioned enhancing the feeling of preciousness and sobriety.
