The spit buckets are missing. Attendees are dressed up, after a fashion: a hat that looks like a hop cone, an inexplicable cow costume or, for the conservative, a string of pretzels round the neck. De rigueur as a portable snack/palate cleanser. This is not a wine tasting; it’s the Great American Beer Festival in Denver, which I attended last week.
