Bacardi was founded in Cub in 1862 by Don Facundo Bacardí Massó. Today it is the largest family owned spirits company in the world. To honor that long tradition Barcardi is releasing a limited-edition celebratory rum called Ron Bacardi de Maestros de Ron .
This rum is blended from some of the rarest spirits in the Bacardi cellars. They have been aging for 20 years in 60-year-old ex-Cognac barrels, giving us a beautiful, rich gold rum. The flavor is pungent with black cherry preserves, citrus, and caramel-soaked oak.
The rum is not the only thing that has had exquisite attention to detail. The hand blown decanter is part of a leather display case with a hand-pressed red crystal emblem of the Bacardi bat.
Only 1,000 of these decanters have been produced. They sell for about $2,000.
