Bloomberg is reporting that Aston Martin and Daimler AG are in talks to create a new SUV.
Daimler, which owns 5 percent of Aston Martin, also produces Mercedes Benz. At present, Mercedes is already working to develop V8 engines for Aston Martin’s upcoming models.
Daimler, “may share the underpinnings of a new full-size SUV with Aston Martin,” the article states.
The SUV wouldn’t be expected to hit the market for at least three years, say sources close to the issue, and Aston Martin and Daimler both declined official comment.
That said, the market is ripe for new luxury SUVs. Maserati and Bentley are both currently planning new SUV models.
