The world’s most exclusive tequila is officially in a class of its own. AsomBroso Tequila has changed the tequila market forever by creating a new sub-class — Ultra-Premium Double Barrel Rested Anejo – with the recent release of AsomBroso “The Collaboration,” a unique 11-year-old, double-barreled, Cabernet Sauvignon Anejo that has been rested exclusively in Silver Oak American Oak barrels.
Elegantly housed in a crystal decanter hand-blown by Italian artist Luciano Gambaro, the $1,800 limited-edition of “The Collaboration” is presented in a polished humidor on a laser-engraved pedestal. The complex sipping tequila imparts notes of honey and oak with hints of caramel and butterscotch, with a smooth dark chocolate finish.
“Resting this tequila with the Silver Oak American oak barrels has produced an absolute masterpiece,” says Ricardo Gamarra, owner and Master Distiller of AsomBroso Tequila. The use of American Oak is the hallmark of Silver Oak Cabernet Sauvignon. It takes 80 years for an American White Oak to grow to maturity, then another two years to age the wood to exacting standards. AsomBroso then ships the barrels from Higbee, Missouri to Jalisco, Mexico where they’re filled with the distiller’s Vintage 11-year-old Extra Anejo – the winner of the Robb Report’s “Best of the Best” ranking – then is aged for an additional three to six months.
Customers of “The Collaboration” and all AsomBroso fine tequilas earn membership to The Agave Club, which provides tequila 101 classes, shares news of new releases and tequila trends, and offers periodic specials. New members can enroll three ways: online at www.atequila.com; by submitting the application card included with each bottle sold; or by scanning a QR code with a smart phone.
“The Collaboration” is the latest edition to their ultra-premium fine line of tequilas which includes “El Carbonzado” (vintage 11-year tequila double-barrel rested in Tennessee whisky barrels), “Del Porto” (an award-winning cache of 11-year reposado tequila rested in port barrels from Portugal) and “Black Pearl,” which is still resting for its release in early Spring 2015. All are among the most sophisticated 100% Blue Agave sipping tequilas on the market.
“The best part of producing AsomBroso is sharing these amazing tequilas,” says Gamarra, who also founded the Super-Premium Diamond Club for customers who’ve purchased the zenith of AsomBroso’s releases: the Del Porto Double Barrel Rested,; or Vintage 11 Year Anejo, which has a 20-year production cycle and is aged in French oak casks for 11 years.
