The world’s obsession with Apple continues to drive record sales – in this case, for an original Apple-1 computer.
The computer, built by Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, sold at auction for a record price of $671,400. The bid surpassed the $640,000 paid for an Apple-1 last November.
Even after Jobs death almost two years ago, the world remains enthralled with Apple’s mythology.
The computer was owned by Electrical engineer Fred Hatfield, who bought it in 1976. Hatfield sold it recently for $40,000 about two months ago. The buyer repaired the machine and put it up for the record auction.
The auction winner is “a wealthy entrepreneur from the Far East who wishes to remain anonymous.”
