Sportswear fans can relax — Adidas Originals and Alexander Wang finally unveiled their highly-anticipated collaboration in New York this weekend.
The New York-based designer debuted the 84-piece unisex collection as the surprise finale at his Spring/Summer 2017 runway show as part of New York Fashion Week on Saturday.
Comprising apparel and footwear, the collection plays with the idea of subverting the rules, inversing the sportswear brand’s famous trefoil logo so that it appears upside down on the pieces to create a new symbol.
A limited capsule drop launched yesterday via a pop-up truck in New York City, with further trucks set to appear in London and Tokyo on September 17, before hitting additional cities at a later date. The first limited drop features just nine styles from the collaboration, including t-shirts, sweatshirts and hoodies bearing a graphic appliqué, and a group of tricots and shorts featuring a co-branded all-over monogram print. The first of three new footwear styles, a black version of Adidas Originals’ AW SKATE shoe featuring an upside down trefoil, herringbone structured foxing tape sole and Italian suede upper, has also been made available with this release.
Additional pieces from the collection will be rolled out in early 2017, before the full collaboration is made available to buy globally at Alexander Wang and adidas Originals stores, on www.alexanderwang.com, adidas online, and select retailers, from Spring 2017.
