Though Alessandra Ambrosio is universally recognized as Victoria’s Secret Angel, she has also made it to the news as a designer and unveiled her latest fashion venture. The Brazilian model has launched Ále by Alessandra swimwear in Los Angeles. Inspired by Ambrosio’s Brazilian roots and current Malibu lifestyle, the 75-piece collection was recently unveiled by the stunning designer at Everything But Water, Santa Monica, CA. For a change the VS Angel has shed her wings to sit behind the desk to design eye-catching swim wear collection.
WWD states that Ambrosio’s newest line is produced in partnership with Los Angeles-based swimwear manufacturer Lunada Bay. An extension of Ambrosio’s spring 2014 apparel capsule for California-based retailer Planet Blue, the new collection comprises of one-piece and two-piece separates, and cover-ups. Ranging from $80 to $300, the whole collection can be summed up as comfortable, fun and chik. Available in vibrant shades and daring cuts, many pieces also feature cord as well as beaded trimming, medallion detailing and fringed edges. Boasting of Brazilian as well as American cuts, the collection is categorized in various styles like My Tribe, Forever on Vacation, Copper Canyon, Rock Solids, Butterfly, Kashmir, Carnival, Tied and True as well as Good Vibes. Each piece from the swimwear collection oozes of Brazil-Bohemia-meets Malibu-Chic spirit!
Asserting about designing to cater to various body types, and not only to the ones with super-model like body, Ambrosio stated, “Each swimsuit has to have details, for me. I wanted to do something that was very bohemian and chic at the same time, and [with] all the different cuts… there’s something for all different bodies.”
Also speaking about her partnership with Everything But Water for the launch, she said that it is one of her favorite places to shop. Alessandra Ambrosio also added that, “I live really near here and I walk by this place everyday, and I always wished one day my collection would be in this store. They have really amazing product… so it works really well, this partnership.”
