Elegantly understated but incredibly functional, L.A.-based Aether’ s performance wear handsomely fills the gap between technical gear and sophisticated, aesthetic design. Founded by two 30-something film producers with a work-hard, play-harder ethic and a serious case of wanderlust, Aether (the name for the heavens in Greek mythology) easily meets the high demands of globetrotting outdoor enthusiasts. This aptly named zip-up features details and construction commonly used in the outdoor sector but rarely in sportswear, with a rugged waxed cotton exterior and a plush, luxurious inner lining. Water-resistant 6 oz. washed cotton canvas. Hooded mockneck collar with drawcord adjustment straps. Zip front with Riri zipper. Shaped bottom hem for added protection. Chest patch pockets, slash pockets, interior pockets. Zippered cuffs with gussets. Fully lined with Primaloft® fabric. A Collector’s Item. Made in Canada. – Buy at J.Crew
In their own words: We are Palmer West and Jonah Smith, and up until recently we were just two film producers in Los Angeles making the kinds of movies we wanted to see. We created Aether because we felt there was a gap in the market. As outdoor sport enthusiasts, we found our shopping options were often limited when looking for new gear. We could either go to the obvious performance-driven clothing lines, thus sacrificing design and style, or shop the more aesthetically pleasing lines and sacrifice performance. Being in our mid-thirties, we are no longer comfortable with the youth-oriented brands that made us look like teenagers on the ski slopes. To us, design and function should be equal. (Learn more)
